Current Role:

Handles new insurance contracts for newly built ships, renewals of P&I and hull insurance, maintenance and periodic review of contract terms, and coordination of insurance claims.

Q1 What motivated you to join?

During university, I had the opportunity to study abroad and dreamed of a career where I could use English and connect with the world. Although I left Imabari for university, I always wanted to return and work locally. Imabari, as a leading maritime city, and shipowners in particular, offered the perfect opportunity to pursue a global career from my hometown.

Q2 What makes the job rewarding?

Ship insurance involves large sums of money, and unexpected issues can arise. But overcoming challenges and successfully negotiating contracts gives me a strong sense of achievement. The daily tasks may be detailed, but each small job contributes to the vast world of maritime transport, which is very fulfilling.

Q3 What are your future goals?

I believe international competition in the maritime industry will intensify. Foreign insurance companies are increasingly entering the Japanese market. As work styles and individual values diversify, I want to stay true to my original motivation, enjoy overcoming challenges, and continue to take on the world from Imabari.
